Cookie Policy

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored in your browser when you visit a website. They are used to remember information about your visit, such as keeping you signed in across page loads.

What we use

myflashcards uses essential cookies required for authentication and — with your consent — optional analytics cookies via Google Analytics. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or any third-party marketing tools.

What we do not use

We do not use Facebook Pixel, advertising networks, heatmap tools, session recording, or any other third-party tracking technology. No cookies or browser storage are set by third-party services other than those listed above.

Note: myflashcards does transmit flashcard word content to third-party APIs in order to provide certain features — specifically Google's Gemini API (AI import) and Google's Cloud Text-to-Speech API (audio pronunciation). These are server-side API calls; they do not involve browser cookies and are not triggered until you actively use those features. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Authentication cookies (Clerk)

Sign-in is handled by Clerk. When you sign in with Google, Clerk sets cookies in your browser solely to maintain your authenticated session. These cookies are strictly necessary — without them the app cannot verify who you are. You can read Clerk's own privacy documentation at clerk.com/privacy.

Your choices

Because all cookies we set are essential to the service, you cannot opt out of them while continuing to use myflashcards. You can, however, delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Doing so will sign you out of your account.

You can also sign out of your account at any time, which will clear your session cookies. If you delete your account (from the Account & Settings page) all your data is permanently erased.

Changes to this policy

If we ever add new cookies — for example, if we introduce optional analytics in the future — we will update this page and show a new consent banner before setting any non-essential cookies.
